Since 1992, Southwest Medical Ventures has participated in the founding of seven companies dedicated to making a difference in health care and the life sciences.

From rapid capture of bacteria from whole blood to tracking outcomes of surgical procedures, the range has been wide, but the focus has been narrow: solve a real problem with cutting edge technology and the right business expertise to succeed.

Making all of those things happen is never simple, and every new company has fits and starts, just as a toddler takes a few steps, falls down and is determined to try again. Yet the spur of creativity and the drive to “get it right” carries successful teams through the inevitable disappointments.

SWMV is based in New Mexico, where some of the nation’s most important investments in the engineering and physical sciences sit shoulder to shoulder with a leading medical school and a growing investment community.
