Our Speaker: Dr. Gullapalli is an Assistant Professor in the departments of Pathology and Chemical and Nuclear Engineering at the University of New Mexico (UNM). He is also a member of the UNM Center for Biomedical Engineering and the UNM Cancer Center. Dr. Gullapalli obtained his medical degree from the Armed Forces Medical College in India. He subsequently obtained a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Penn State University followed by a PhD in Bioengineering. He then completed his residency in Clinical Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center followed by a fellowship in Molecular Pathology. Dr. Gullapalli is highly interested in the convergence of emerging technologies with traditional pathology practice in the domain of clinical genomics and bioinformatics. His current research focuses on the use of high-throughput sequencing in clinical oncology and technology development to extract circulating tumor cells from the blood of cancer patients.
